We would like to thank Scott Woods for taking the time to answer some questions for the site as we close on the release of his new book. We hope for those of you that know him, these answers share something new, and for those that don't, we hope that you are compelled to read this tremendous collection of poetry.

Question 9: The book includes the poem Everything You Need to Know About Prince in 13 Songs- What does Prince represent to you, as an artist?

Prince has songs for just about every situation a heart can find itself in, and that's ripe for poetic interpretation. Being a huge Prince fanatic, I embraced the challenge of funneling all of the trivia and stories about Prince into poems as reflected through the lens of his actual art. Less importantly to that series of poems but more to their inspiration, I should add that Prince is one of the best representations of the power of unbridled genius set loose on the world. That he has chosen music through which to express that genius are what attract most of us, but make no mistake: We were all going to know who Prince was no matter what he chose to do with his life. If he were predisposed to science, we'd be talking about Prince in the same breath as Stephen Hawkings. If he were into poetry he'd have been a laureate a long time ago. I don't care if he fixed cars for a living; we would all, somehow, know who he was. That's inspiring to me, and certainly worth a handful of poems.

Each of the 10 questions will be released daily from 1/7/13-1/18/13, excepting weekends.
